With an unmistakable intensity of colour and an eye for the subtle shades of life, Brigitte Moneth touches her viewers deep inside. Her art tells stories of nature, spirituality and humanity that go far beyond the visible. Brigitte, who discovered painting after a long career as a special education teacher, creates works that are characterised by both technical precision and intuitive expressiveness.

Brigitte Moneth’s artistic journey began in 2007 when she began painting realistic landscapes and animal pictures in oil, modelled on the American painter Bob Ross. The naturalness and harmony that Ross brought to his works found an impressive echo in Moneth’s work. However, it was the intensive study of Feliks Büttner’s work that gave her the impetus to find her own style. Inspired by Büttner’s bold choice of colours and expressive gestures, she began experimenting with bright watercolours and acrylics as well as mixed media techniques, which have remained a trademark of her work to this day.

Brigitte’s works are characterised by thematic depth and an emotional colour palette that ranges from bright rainbows to delicate pastel shades. Her themes range from astrological symbols and spiritual worlds to scenes of nature and everyday life. In particular, her preoccupation with astrology and spiritual themes since 2016 has brought a new dimension to her art. Each work seems to be a journey inwards, a search for self-realisation and letting go of the past. The artist takes her viewers on an exploration of her inner world, full of symbols and hidden meanings that inspire reflection and meditation.

One of her best-known projects is the annual publication of an art calendar, which she has been designing since 2019. Month after month, she creates unique pictures for it, which she paints at her three studio locations in Remscheid, Norden and Mallorca.

Despite her impressive versatility, it is the connection between her and her granddaughter Elisabeth that particularly inspires her artistic work. Together, the two playfully create childlike works that are characterised by a unique lightness and joy. These moments of creative exchange flow into her art and give it a special warmth and accessibility. Brigitte Moneth paints because she wants to celebrate life and show the beauty of the world. She sees her work as an invitation to discover herself and to recognise the beauty in the world. Her message to the viewer is clear:

Art can be healing, and every brushstroke is a step on the path to inner freedom.

In her pictures, Brigitte manages to unite the everyday and the supernatural, the visible and the hidden in a harmonious dialogue – an art that inspires and touches.
